A Short Walk Home

A Short Walk Home is about Oxford, although not particularly the Oxford anyone puts on a postcard. It is the bit in between. People waiting for buses, smoking outside shops, working, carrying things, staring through windows, walking somewhere else. The city giving way to villages, fields and places that used to feel like home. Small moments noticed largely because I happened to have a camera with me. The photographs were made while wandering rather than looking for anything in particular. Over time, the walk became less about a route and more about the slightly slippery idea of home itself — the places we come from, the people we return to, and everything that happens on the way. Mostly, though, it is just what was there while I was going somewhere else.
